Dear Members and Community,

It is with deep gratitude and great excitement that I step into the role of Executive Director at The Gathering Place. This is more than just a new title for me, this is a continuation of a purpose-driven journey that began years ago in recovery rooms, peer circles, and community spaces where healing, hope, and honesty are the foundation.

I come to this role as someone who has lived experience with mental health and substance use challenges and recovery. I know what it means to struggle, to fall, and to rise again. I’ve walked through the darkest days and discovered that recovery is not just possible, it’s powerful. It is this lived experience that shapes everything I do, and it’s the reason I believe so deeply in the work we do at The Gathering Place.

My vision for this organization is rooted in compassion, community, and empowerment. I want this to be a place where everyone who walks through our doors feels seen, supported, and inspired. Peer support will remain at the heart of what we do, and I will work to expand our programs, deepen our partnerships, and ensure that we are accessible to all who need us, regardless of where they are on their journey.

What I hope to accomplish:

· Strengthen our peer-led services by investing in training, resources, and growth opportunities for those with lived experience.

· Expand outreach to underserved populations, including LGBTQIA+, justice-involved individuals, and marginalized communities.

· Create safe, inclusive spaces where recovery is defined by the individual and supported by the community.

Advocate for recovery at every level, locally, statewide, and nationally because our voices matter.

This work isn’t about me, it’s about us. I’m here to listen, to learn, and to lead with integrity. My door is always open. Whether you are a peer, a partner, or someone just beginning to explore recovery, I invite you to join us in building a future where healing is real, recovery is respected, and every voice has power.

We’re just getting started and together, we got this!

With gratitude and hope,Trina Marquez, Recovery Coach, Certified Peer Specialist, Certified Parent Peer Specialist
